1. Avatar vs. Aliens - Trailer audio from Avatar mashed up with the visuals of Aliens, also a James Cameron film. This combo works well. Too well.

  7. Link Blowout #65

The Blind Side -vs- Ninja Assassin - Videogum side-by-sides the two seemingly polar-opposite films. Similarly predictably and pandering, now *that* I could agree with.

James Cameron on Why Avatar Lost to Hurt Locker - My interpretation of Cameron’s carefully worded statements = it’s all Hollywood politics. Also, he kind of takes credit for KBigs getting the job.

Avatar: Advertisement For Paganism - Or… Religious Over-Reaction of the Day!

Eddie Grant’s “Romancing the Stone” - From the film Romancing the Stone. Vintage music video awesomeness.

Beyond the Mat, 10 Years Later - A retrospective look at the best pro-wrestling documentary of all-time.

Jeff Goldblum is Dating “Alex” From Lost - Chaos Theory at its best.

  10. James Cameron Speaks at TED - 17 minutes on his childhood fascination with art and sci-fi. It’s interesting how he contrasts his own creative growth with limited access to visual fantasy. The irony being that today’s youth can just go see Avatar, instead of reading a book and making up the visuals in their mind. Or something.

  11. Link Blowout #58

Roger Ebert’s New Old Voice - The man is an inspiration, even if he was totally off-base with his The Lovely Bones review.

A Muppet Wicker Man - A 32 page photo-comic retelling of the 1973 classic. I don’t know why this exists, but it does.

Clash of the Titans: Old -vs- New - A monster comparison, and a reminder that I need to rewatch the classic.

Avatar -vs- Pocahontas - A mashup video containing the audio of Avatar and the visuals of the Disney animated version of Pocahontas. Fits pretty well, methinks.

District 9 For Best Picture - Making the case for sci-fi in 2010, even though we all know it won’t happen (not this year anyway). For the record: I agree.

    • Avatard Expertly Avatizes 144 Celebs - Flikr user “Avatizer” has painstakingly photo-shopped 144 celebs and pop-culture icons. You can even watch him time-lapse Ellen Page into blue-eared submission. This takes obsession to a new level, and I like it.
Maybe he should “Avatize” famous photos from history next? This link should be enough to keep him busy for a while.
