Aronofsky May Helm Human Nature With GClooney - A.k.a. Darren’s unofficial Planet of the Apes remake.
Can Horror Help Save VHS? - Um… No. Nothing can save VHS. And anybody who attaches themselves to this fad is just as gimmick-happy as the Hollywood 3D zealots.
23,000 Stallone Fans Sued - Sly & company deem downloader’s pocket-books Expendable(s).
Micheal Cera To Star In Indie Thriller - I find it hard to imagine taking anything Cera stars in serious enough to be suspenseful. I mean, seriously.
MovieBoozer.com - My movie website of the moment, they measure their movies in beer. BEER I SAY.
Meanwhile, In Trailerville…
- Horrible Bosses - The second feature from the director of King of Kong, but not a documentary. Also, could go either way.
- Real Steel - The second trailer for this big-f’n-robots -vs- big-f’n-robots flick, based on a short story published in 1956, makes the film look less like a fun time and more like a “I hate child acting” special effects bore-fest. Le sigh.
- Big Ass - A trailer starring Will Smith.

Unofficial Film-Related Music Video of the Moment - One of my favorite tracks of the year, “Lofticries” by Purity Ring, gets the unofficial music video treatment from Vimeo user David Dean Burkhart, who utilized footage from the cult 1970’s Swedish film Thriller: A Cruel Picture, whose main character was the inspiration for Uma Thurman’s character in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill films. So much awesome.

Jack Conte’s Tron Legacy + Inception Mashup - See above. Brilliant.
Deals: The Master & Django Unchained Find a Home - New Paul Thomas Anderson and Quentin Tarantino projects are officially on the move, courtesy The Brothers Harvey.
Kirkman Wants King - The Hollywood Reporter catches up with the Walking Dead creator. Topics of discussion include comic-based properties he’s excited by, completed scripts, and getting the master of the horror novel, Stephen King himself, to write a season two episode.
Meltdown - A sadistic short featuring the voice talent of David Cross (among others.) “Last night’s leftovers battle for their lives.”
Harry Knowles’ Neckbeard - Good on the AICN founder for continuing to lose the weight - I wish the man nothing but great health and a long life of living down his legendary Godzilla review. That being said, shave that shite already.
Meanwhile, in Twitterville…
- Join the Force - Want a job at LucasFilm? There’s a twitter account for that. [via]
- Freddy Got Fingered Basket - In Texas and want a basket of fried chicken steak fingers named ofter the Tom Green classic cult film? There’s a restaurant for that. [via]

Sam Jack Sunday - Got a few more minutes for this one, EST. Movies > sports IMO, but my hate for that payoff-giving rapist who arrogantly calls himself The Black Mambo knows no bounds.

Thor’s Product Placement Review - Breaking down the film by the products it shamelessly plugs. More of this, please.
Darren Aronofsky’s Recommended Reading - Five books, to be exact - all of which are related to making movies in some way. File this one under “missed it the first go-around.”
Dear 3D, Please Die Already (Again) - Scott Weinberg breaks down the who, what, why, and please-make-the-pain-stop of the current 3D movie craze. I couldn’t agree more.
AICN Interviews Tyler Stout - You know, the Tyler Stout who gained recent acclaim for his (Alamo Drafthouse approved) incredibly detailed poster re-designs of classic fanboy favorite films. Related Self-Link: 14 Awesome Alt Movie Poster Designers
Meanwhile, In Trailerville…
- The Elephant in the Living Room - Director Michael Webber’s documentary focusing on exotic pet ownership in America. Regardless, I still want a slow loris.
- Elephant White - Brought to you buy the director of Ong Bak, also know as “that movie in which Kevin Bacon has a bad Australian accent.”
- Page One: Inside the New York Times - In which director Andrew Rossi chronicles the working lives of several NYT staffers for a year while they struggle to remain relevant in the digital age.

3 Lessons Chris Hemsworth Learned From Thor - They forgot #4: Don’t stand too close to the sun. Yuck yuck.
Time Warner Buys Flixter, and thus Rotten Tomatoes - They intend to expand both into a ‘digital content ownership’ service. In other recent Time Warner news, NetFlix is not a threat to the current distribution model. ORLY?
David Lynch Signature Cup Coffee - Peep the Lynch directed “commercial” for the Twin Peak creator’s own personal brand of coffee, which he sells on his website. Weirdly.
Lando Calrissian’s Cape is Totally Lined With Dragons - Appropriately bad ass.
The Home Alone House is For Sale - $2.4 million in a down economy? Worth every penny to trounce around yelling “This house is so full of people it makes me sick. When I grow up and get married, I’m living alone!”
Meanwhile, In Trailerville…
- Columbiana - Zoe Saldana learns to lead a film and kick-ass doing it. Also, Luc Besson.
- Retreat - Zoe Saldana doppleganger Thandie Newton gets stuck in a post-apocalyptic virus thriller with a twist. Here’s hoping the real twist is it doesn’t suck.
- Moby Dick - Which is more along the lines of a Korean action drama than a retelling of the classic Herman Melville book or a bad pr0n movie title pun.

The Blind Film Critic - Meet Tommy Edison, aka The Blind Film Critic. Tommy watches and then reviews films blindly. That is to say, he’s blind - and has been since birth - is it proper to say he “watches” movies at all?
I digress… Tommy is the traffic guy at a local radio station in Connecticut, where he also creates and publishes his YouTube reviews with the editing assistance of his friend Ben Churchill. So far his reviews include the recent releases Scre4m and Water For Elephants, last summer’s hit Inception, and my favorite - Kevin Smith’s classic 90’s flick Clerks (embedded above).
I imagine trying to enjoy action, suspense, and slower-paced dramatic films would be quite frustrating for a sight-impaired person and it is in this spirit I recommend the works of Quentin Tarantino, and specifically the films Glengarry Glen Ross, 12 Angry Men, Network, Social Network, Boiler Room and the TV Series Deadwood.
Although, in retrospect… If you are blind and looking for movie recommendations, you’re probably not reading this to begin with.

The Death of the Supercut - I love supercuts, the video meme, not the discount strip-mall hair-cutting establishment. No, I love the supercuts that occur when an “obsessive-compulsive superfan collects every phrase/action/cliche from an episode (or entire series) of their favorite show/film into a single massive video montage.” [thx waxy!]
And while the supercut that catalogs Death Wish Deaths or Hitchcock Cameos might be safe from automation thus far, the days of the spoken word supercut are quickly coming to an end. Peep the video above, wherein Flickr user Bad Ankles demonstrates a process which utilizes a trio of programming languages to parse subtitles from the 2010 reboot of Predators and automatically play back all instances of the word “shit.”
When art becomes automation, is it still art? Who gives a “shit.”
